We basically consider the nature of young learners that’s why we are confident that our teaching methods used by our bilingual teachers will be effective for the kids.
Japanese Kids Basic 1 – Course Overview (recommended for learners aged 10 to 15 years)
The Japanese Kids Basic 1 course is specially designed for young learners with no prior Japanese background. Conducted over 20 sessions (90 minutes each), this course introduces children to the fundamental building blocks of the Japanese language in a fun, structured, and interactive environment.
At this level, students will focus on mastering all Hiragana and Katakana characters, developing correct stroke order, pronunciation, and recognition skills. Alongside character learning, students will be introduced to basic classroom expressions, simple greetings, and essential vocabulary used in everyday situations. Lessons are activity-based and age-appropriate, helping learners build confidence while enjoying the learning process.
By the end of the course, students will be able to read and write basic Japanese characters, understand and use simple self-introduction phrases, and respond to common classroom instructions. Upon successful completion, students will be well-prepared to progress to Japanese Kids Basic 2, where they will expand their speaking, listening, and comprehension skills further.
Japanese Kids Basic 2 – Course Overview (recommended for learners aged 10 to 15 years)
The Japanese Kids Basic 2 course is the next step for learners who have completed Basic 1 or possess an equivalent foundational knowledge of Hiragana and Katakana. This course consists of 20 sessions (90 minutes each) and focuses on practical communication, sentence construction, and everyday Japanese usage.
Building on foundational literacy, students will learn to use Japanese in real-life contexts such as introducing themselves, talking about personal belongings, expressing preferences, asking questions, and participating in simple conversations. Course content is structured around thematic lessons inspired by daily life, including classroom language, family and friends, food and daily routines, hobbies, travel, health, and social interactions.
Through guided dialogues, role-plays, listening activities, and simple reading passages, students will develop the ability to understand short texts, follow instructions, and communicate basic ideas confidently in Japanese. Cultural elements are also introduced to help learners better appreciate Japanese customs and everyday life. Syllabus used is aligned with the MOELC Japanese subject.
By the end of Japanese Kids Basic 2, students will be able to:

Hi there! I’m Nisha, and I absolutely love teaching Japanese. I was born and raised in Japan, so I grew up surrounded by its amazing language, culture, and traditions — and now I get to share all of that with my students! Learning Japanese isn’t just about words and letters; it’s also about fun, games, and discovering a whole new world.
I’ve been teaching Japanese for over three years to students of all ages — from little kids to teens — in both Japan and Singapore. I’ve helped young children learn their very first Japanese words and letters, and I’ve also guided older students as they prepared for tests. Every lesson is a chance to explore, practice, and enjoy learning together.
In my classes, we follow a fun and easy method called PPE — Present, Practice, and Engage. First, I introduce new words and phrases in a simple and clear way. Then, we practice them together with games, exercises, and fun activities. Finally, we put everything into action with role-plays, conversations, and interactive challenges. This helps students use Japanese in real-life situations while having a great time!
Learning Japanese should be exciting and enjoyable, and I can’t wait to help you discover the language, the culture, and, most importantly, the fun of speaking Japanese!
